Study Models
This class was about translating 2-dimensional ideas into 3-dimensonal forms by creating sketch models.
The term started off with an intense foam core cutting exercise, making geometric shapes out of foam core. The cuts had to be really precise and clean.
Our first term was a combined term with Transportation Design and Entertainment Design and our assignments in this class reflected that, starting off with the first of 3 mini projects. The task was to construct a car instrument panel, using foam core and Art Center paper.
Up next was the product design phase, where we came up with the next generation of a hand held product of our choice.
The final class assignment, the entertainment design section. We got to build our treaded vehicle from our VisCom 1 assignment. The idea was to find existing materials and objects to built our tank, much like kit bashing in the entertainment design industry.
